Spray Tanning is a 20-minute treatment and involves wearing a pair of disposable pants, a protective shower cap and sticky feet. You are then escorted to the shower area where your Beauty Therapist will spray you from head to toe with your chosen colour. Back in the treatment room you will be provided with a glass of water while you stand and "dry" for about 5 minutes before dressing. The tan will develop to its optimum colour over the next 2 to 8 hours depending on whether it's Rapid Tan or regular tan and will last from 7-10 days.
It is recommended to have a "practice tan" ahead of an important occasion such as your wedding day.
Spray-tanning is great for so many occasions
Here are a few of our favourite suggestions:
- Pre-holiday - arrive at the beach already bronzed and beautiful; as your spray tan fades you can develop a natural tan in its place.
- Wedding - Whether you are a member of the bridal party or a guest, look your best.
- Prom or Ball - Dazzle your friends with a natural-looking beautiful tan
We hope you enjoy your spray-tanning experience!
Dos and Don'ts for Spray Tanning
Do exfoliation and hair removal 24 hours before your application, NOT on the day.
Do wear loose, dark clothing, flip flops or sandals. The colour may rub off onto fabrics but will wash out of natural fabrics, however it may stain synthetic fabrics such as nylon or lycra.
Do remove make up, moisturiser, perfume and deodorant before your application.
Don't wear soft contact lenses during your session.
Don't have a spray tan if you are pregnant or breast-feeding (as a precaution).
Don't tint eyebrows within 12 hours of a treatment.
Don't moisturise within 12 hours of your tan
The first step to a beautiful long-lasting tan is preparation. Use a non-oily body scrub to gently remove any impurities and smooth the skin prior to your spray tan application.
After your treatment
Our tan needs to be left on for 2 to 8 hours (depending on whether it's Rapid or regular) before showering or taking a bath, this gives your tan a chance to develop fully.
Avoid strenuous exercise, as sweating can inhibit the development of your tan. It is advised that you wait at least 8 hours before doing anything that may make you perspire.
Avoid wearing socks or shoes after your tanning session, as again sweating can inhibit the development of your tan. Wear flip flops or sandals.
Avoid applying moisturiser or deodorants for at least 8 hours.
Avoid wearing tight clothing for at least 8 hours.
Don't sit on light-coloured leather or fabrics until you've showered or taken a bath as the colour can cause discolouration.
Don't shave or wax until 12 hours after your treatment, although ideally waxing should be done prior to tanning as it will remove some of the tan.
Maintaining your tan:
Healthy skin tans best! The secret to maintaining your tan is to moisturise daily; hydrated skin is essential in maintaining a longer lasting colour, however , lotions containing Alpha Hydroxy Acids (A.H.A's) are used to increase exfoliation, therefore their use will accelerate the fading of your tan.
Avoid long hot baths and showers as they speed up exfoliation. Pat your skin dry after a bath or shower; rubbing your skin may rub off your tan.
Avoid swimming pools as the chlorine can bleach your tan.
